ACTIVATED ALUMINA FILTER MEDIA TO REMOVE FLUORIDES FROM WATER
IMA-F is a granular filtering product based on activated alumina mainly used for the removal of dissolved fluorides from well, mains and irrigation water. The application of this specific filter bed reduces the values below the limits set by the World Health Organization.
IMA Water Technology ships IMA-F bags in 25kg units for insertion in filters or for replacement once the previous bed has saturated its absorption limit.
If you require the supply of a fluoride removal system, fully assembled and ready for connection, please contact our technical department. As experts in water treatment, with more than 30 years of experience in the sector, we will advise you to optimize your specific case.
Technical data for IMA-F filter media based on activated alumina
The mineral bed is manufactured from raw material of high purity, with special dedication for its use in the treatment of drinking and industrial water. Thus, it meets the safety parameters for use in lines for human consumption.

Operating parameters
For an optimization of the defluorination process an average pH between 6 and 7 should be set. Depending on the variability of the pH values, the filtration rate will vary between 3 and 10 m3/h.
When the terminal fluoride content value is reached, the activated alumina-based IMA-F bed is regenerated using a sodium hydroxide or aluminum sulfate solution, depending on the specific case. The regeneration process will be carried out between backwashes accompanied by leaching and neutralization of the filter material.
The recommended contact time for the water flow inside the filtration module will be approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
